Welcome! If you are here, you have found Brass + Bauble. You’ve also found me. I’m Jen. Mom. Wife. Designer. Dreamer. Doer. I have a serious reality TV addiction and try as I might to kick the coffee habit, it’s not happening. #thestruggleisreal
I hope to spend a lot of time with you here, so let me introduce myself. I am a So Cal girl through and through and can’t imagine ever leaving. Shockingly, I don’t care much for the beach. But don’t tell anyone. I’m pretty sure you can’t say that out loud in California.
So that I’m not mysterious and obscure like an annoying Facebook post, here’s the nitty gritty of my life. I have teenage twin boys and a teenage stepdaughter. Yup, you read right. THREE teenagers-just a mere six months apart and on their way out the door all at the same time. I’m counting down the days and Mama’s gonna PAR-TAY! (…like its 1999…sorry, I couldn’t resist.) Anyhow, I spend most weekdays picking up from after school practices and most weekends at a soccer field. I’ve been with my husband for ten years and in romantic love story fashion-we met at a bar.
I love to travel. And when I say travel, I mean hang in airports, walk an entire city, and indulge at the best foodie stops-from grilled cheese to sushi and dive bar to posh lounge. Bring it on! I’m all about the vibes. I find inspiration in the environments I am in-from the music to the hushed chatter, from the tufted vinyl to the velvet banquet, from the beautifully lit chandelier to the last call lights flipping on. I find the unique energy and beauty in everywhere I go and can just feel it in my bones.
I still say that I don’t know what I want to be when I grow up. I always had a love and passion for design and when I set out to study History, I wasn’t sure how that would work its way into design. I also love to teach, so I did that first. I taught silly, awkward, confused middle schoolers and loved every second of it! Anyhow, the long and short of it is, California was laying off teachers, I decided to follow my dreams, yada, yada, and now I am an Interior Designer.
I live a pretty typical life, which is in fact pretty atypical. Isn’t that really the norm? I’m just trying to navigate this life doing the best that I can at being a mother, a wife, a friend, and a badass Lady Boss. Thank you for joining me on this journey. I hope you enjoy YOUR journey here, right along with me.
